Why is Kevin Faulconer mailing lies about Lorena Gonzalez?

Kevin's Lie: Lorena Gonzalez brought a lawsuit to try to prevent our City Hall reform initiative from succeeding.

THE TRUTH: Lorena Gonzalez successfully sued the City Council for trying to place deceptive language on the ballot regarding the strong mayor initiative. A judge ruled Lorena was right and forced the City to be more honest with the voters. Lorena has a proven track record of holding the City accountable.

Kevin's Lie: Lorena Gonzalez wouldn't answer Mayor Sanders' survey of where Gonzalez stands on reform. How can we trust her when she keeps her positions on the issue secret?

THE TRUTH: Having an extensive education from Stanford University, Georgetown University and UCLA School of Law, Lorena Gonzalez told the Mayor she would not answer a simple yes to complex legal proposals without seeing the exact language. Instead, Lorena met with the Mayor and explained her positions on every one of his issues. Lorena will not rubber-stamp anyone's agenda --politicians who were afraid to say NO got our city into this mess in the first place!

Kevin's Lie: Lorena Gonzalez is going to raise our taxes.

THE TRUTH: Lorena has provided real solutions to the fiscal mess -- without having to raise taxes on San Diego's residents. Her plans include a transparent, line-by-line budget to cut waste out of government and true pension reform.

Kevin's Lie: Lorena Gonzalez' supporters are the same special interests who support gold-plated pensions for city bureaucrats.

THE TRUTH: Lorena has advocated for pension caps to ensure that city pensions are reasonable, and affordable. The President of the Firefighter's Union - Ron Saathoff has joined former Mayor Dick Murphy in supporting Kevin Faulconer. Who's gold-plated pension is Kevin talking about?

Kevin's Lie: Kevin is the Reformer and Lorena is the Status Quo.

THE TRUTH: Kevin was the hand picked successor by Councilmember Byron Wear and was appointed to City boards by former Mayors Susan Golding and Dick Murphy.
